Almost all of the Syrah comes from Block 8 of the G2 vineyard, a south facing slope with extremely thin and rocky topsoil. The wine is intensely masculine and offers notes of black fruit, Christmas spices, and chocolate. The acid and tannins are in perfect balance, resulting in a wine with impressive age ability. Aged in 70% new French oak. 266 cases produced. Drink now through 2033. | Turtle Rock Vineyards...lots of smoky black and blue fruits, graphite, crushed stone, and soem peppery, meaty notes define the aromatics, and it brings the most richness and depth on the palate (no doubt due to the large Syrah component) with firm tannins and a great finish. | 95 points, Jeb Dunnuck for jebdunnuck.com
