This 2021 vintage of our Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon might be one of our favorites to date. Consisting of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from two unique vineyard sites within Alexander Valley, the different elevations, soil types and microclimates within each property make for one stunning and multifaceted Cabernet Sauvignon. Battle Family Vineyard sits at the very top of Chalk Hill Road right next to our friends at Medlock Ames' Bell Ranch property. We source from four different blocks that each add their own personality and complexity to the wine. In addition to the fruit from Battle Family Vineyard, we also source fruit from one block of Stuhlmuller Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon who have been farming grapes in Alexander Valley for almost 40 years. With red volcanic soils in the heart of the appellation, this fruit is terroir-driven with a sense of place and time. As a 100% varietal similar to our Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is sourced from cooler vineyard sites which gives it a bright acidity accentuating the tannins and formulates a beautiful texture throughout the palate. Jesse Katz crafts this wine to be vibrant and fresh in style. It is refined and elegant with rich notes of dark chocolate, rose petal and a hint of cinnamon. Enjoy it now with a one to two hour decant or let mature in your cellar for another 5-10 years. | The SettingDark red/purple, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley spent 22 months in 80% new French oak and is more aromatic on the nose, with notes of pine sap, boysenberry, mint, sage, and cigar box. On the palate, it's full-bodied and rounded with sweet tannins, and it has good, balanced lift, a rich, plush texture, and notes of mocha on the finish... | 95 points, Jeb Dunnuck for jebdunnuck.com
