Hand harvested, sorted in the winery, fermented individually in puncheons, pressed to barrel, aged in used French oak for 14 months. 50 cases made.White Hawk vineyard embodies everything we love about cool climate Syrah. This wine is incredibly nuanced, opening up with a bouquet of fresh violets and iris, orange blossom and saffron spice leading into aromas of salted caramel and charcuterie with a hint of miso. The wine opens up with fresh raspberries and alpine strawberries. There is a purity of fruit that carries over to the palate. Elegant and refined, the tannins are like fine silky lace with levity and lift. A wine that offers so much immediate pleasure. | Matt Morris WinesFrom a sandy site located north of the Sta. Rita Hills, the 2020 Syrah White Hawk Vineyard reveals a vivid, semi-opaque ruby/purple hue to go with a floral, intense perfume of black raspberries, wild strawberries, peppery herbs, baking spices, and flowers. These carry to a medium to full-bodied Syrah that has a remarkable sense of elegance, ultra-fine tannins, and perfectly integrated acidity. This site never yields the biggest or most concentrated wines, but this classy, balanced, perfumed, exotic, and singular Syrah benefits from a decant and is going to evolve for at least a decade. It's another incredible wine from Matt Morris. | 96 points, Jeb Dunnuck for jebdunnuck.com
