The 2019 white wine label incorporates 32 thumbnails taken from those barrel cards that we just spoke of in our overly wordy, lovey-dovey communique. Gorgeously candid and authentic - these are the jubilant wedding day faces of a few of our closest friends and family, stitched together...with the two of us in the center... reminding us that you are the sum of those you surround yourself with. All these little pieces eventually add up to something big, like this year's Chardonnay dominated White Wine.Cut from its own cloth and not following any rules; this gemstone is, for lack of a more profound descriptor, utterly delicious. Golden and just ever-so-slightly hazy in appearance, with a subtle green hue reflected in the light on the edges; indicative of a youthful vintage rich in glutathione that is helpful in slowing the oxidation of wine (at least that's what Mark Aubert says...). A 60/40 blend of Chardonnay/Roussanne birthed from two exceptional vineyards; Sanford & Benedict and Cumulus. We hand harvested at dusk and cold-pressed into classy French Oak, 80% of which was new. This liquid sunshine barrel aged for 21 months on its lees... without being racked, filtered, or fined because, "simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication." Our sentiments exactly, DaVinci. Like parents to a newborn child, we carefully nursed along barrel fermentations to ensure temperatures stayed cool and kept the thriving yeast population healthy and happy. After malolactic fermentation ceased, we backed off and let them rest in peace. Honeycomb, toast, guanabana, creme fraiche, lemon peel, wet rocks and petrol are a handful of descriptors scribbled down in our notebooks along the way. Not for the faint of heart...not the lean, green, enamel-stripping machine professed by some to be "balanced". We adore this generous and mouthcoating style, supported by pillars of structure and lively acidity, and make no apologies; well, one apology - sorry that we cannot offer you more! | Nikolas & Julia Krankl for Fingers Crossed
